Porvorim: Young Stars of Moula beat Vividha Sports Club by 53 runs in the GCA ‘B Division’ North zone final at GCA academy ground, here on Saturday.
Batting first, Young Stars of Moula were all out for 229 runs in 36.5 overs. Suraj Gond and Sarthak Walke batted resolutely for their half-centuries and provided the backbone for Moula’s total. Suraj scored 70 runs off 66 balls, which included 11 boundaries. Sarthak contributed 64 runs off 67 balls, which consisted seven hits to the fence.
The Moula innings had got off to a disastrous start, losing two wickets without putting a run on the board. After Moula were reduced to 22/3 in the third over, Sarthak joined Suraj and began the repair job. The duo put up a partnership of 114 runs for the fourth wicket to lift their team to a respectable total. Down the order, Abhishek Singh made a handy contribution of 26 runs.
Vividha’s Santosh Pal was the main wicket-taker with figures of 3/30. Badal Shaikh and Deepraj Gawas took two wickets each.
In reply, Vividha Sports Club were all out for 176 runs in 32.5 overs. Smith Pardeshi was their top-scorer with 53 runs off 55 balls (4×4) . Badal and Santosh scored 38 and 31 runs respectively.
Young Stars of Moula’s Harsh Jetaji with figures of 4/45 and Sanjay Naik with 3/35, were instrumental in bowling Young Stars of Moula to victory. Having earlier batted well, Sarthak Walke also tasted success with the ball, getting two wickets.
