Porvorim: Venture XI scored a 9-wicket victory (VJD) over Dempo Challengers in a rain-interrupted match of the 2nd Goa Women’s Premier League T20 tournament at Goa Cricket Association academy ground here today.
After Dempo Challengers could manage to post a total of 97/6, Venture XI were comfortably placed at 51/1 in 10 overs when rain stopped play.
Tanaya Naik top-scored for Dempo, remaining unbeaten on 31 runs. The Dempo captain was involved in a couple of 30-run partnerships for fifth and sixth wicket respectively to take her side closer to the three-digit total. Diksha Gawde (18), Divya Naik (14), Diksha A. (12) and Rakshanda Pilankar (11) chipped in with the bat.
Venture XI’s Mitali Gawander and Sejal Naik took two wickets each.
In reply, Venture XI opener Shreya Parab remained unbeaten on 26 with skipper Shikha Pandey on 21 not out; as rain played spoilsport and VJD method was implemented to decide the outcome. Shikha was named Player-of-the Match.
In the second match, which was truncated due to rains, Manas Panjim Gymkhana registered a 7-wicket victory (VJD method) against Desserts N’More Avengers.
