Margao: Union Gymkhana-Belgaum beat Sports Authority of Goa RCC North Goa by 31 runs in the final of the all-India invitational under-13 exposure cricket tournament organised by Margao Cricket Youth Club at Konkan Railway Ground, here today.
SAG RCC North Goa won the toss and elected to bowl first. Union Gymkhana managed to post a total of 120/5 in the allotted 20 overs (Farhan Shekh 26, Samarth Chougule 20; Shaurya Chodankar 1/17, Swarit Gawade 1/22).
SAG RCC North Goa fell short of mounting a serious challenge against their strong opponents from Karnataka as their reply resulted in a total of 89/9 in 20 overs (Adeep Miskin 35, Shaurya Chodankar 14; Farhan Shekh 3/10, Tejas 2/19), and finished runners-up.
Goa Cricket Association president Vipul Phadke was the chief guest while Pandurang (Bhai) Naik was the guest of honour for the prize distribution ceremony. Hemant Angle and Ravindra Nevgi were also present.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Man of the Match: Farhan Shekh (Union Gymkhana, Belgaum). Best Bowler: Farhan Shekh. Best Batsman: Hemant C. (Just Cricket, Bangalore).
