AMONA: Cricket Club of Cumbharjua & Nageshi Youth have advanced into the last-eight stage of the Saibaba SC 16th All-Goa Panchayat & Municipality T20 tournament in progress at Uzzate ground, Amona.
In today’s matches, Cricket Club of Cumbharjua beat Shree Laxminarayan SC Wadi by 61 runs; and Nageshi Youth Bandoda got the better of Shree Shantadurga Pirna by 26 runs.
Opting to bat first, Cricket Club of Cumbharjua rode on the superb century by Rajat Shet (114 off 61 balls) to post a formidable total of 189/6.
Rajat blasted 10 sixes and five boundaries in his smashing knock. Rohan Bogati (21) and Ambar Naik (18) also contributed with the bat.
It was a punishing day in general for bowlers of Shree Laxminarayan SC Wadi with Swapnil Gawde being the most successful with 2/19 off his 4 overs.
With the daunting asking rate from the start, Shree Laxminarayan SC required inspiration from someone but their batters couldn’t convert starts into substantial scores and the team total was restricted to 128/8. Naresh Gaonkar’s 26 was their top score.
Cricket Club of Cumbharjua bowlers were among wickets with Rohan Bogati and Ambar Naik picking two each; while Narendra Tari, Sahil Parodkar, Rajesh Tokadiya and Rajat Shet took one wicket apiece. Rajat Shet was adjudged Man of the Match award and Uday Sinari presented it.
In the next match, Nageshi Youth posted a total of 164/9 with Kedar Naik (54 off 40 balls; 4×6, 6×1) being the top scorer; after being put into bat. Other major contribution came from Vishwajeet (35 off 22 balls; 4×4, 6×1). Shree Shantadurga’s Suraj Shetye and Rajshekhar Harikant took 3 wickets each.
In reply, Shree Shantadurga were restricted to 138/9. Sachin Gawas put up a great individual fight with his knock of 58 runs in 38 balls that included five sixes and four boundaries. Nageshi Youth’s Stanley Fernandes (3/17) and Siddhesh Naik (2/11) were impressive with the ball.
Kedar Naik was named Man of the Match and was presented with the award by Umesh Gawas.
