AMONA: Dhadsakal Stars and Shirgao Sports Club cruised to victory in their respective matches in the 16th All-Goa Panchayat and Municipality T20 tournament organised by Saibaba Sports Club at Uzzate ground here today.
Dhadsakal Stars beat Saibaba Sports Club by an emphatic margin of 56 runs in the first match. That was followed by Shirgao Sports Club’s one-sided 111-run victory over Siddhant Sal.
Put into bat, Dhadsakal Stars posted massive total of 171/8 with main contributions coming from Aryan Narvekar (58 off 32 balls; 4×4, 6×4). Saniket Palkar (35 off 23 balls; 6×3, 4×2) and Saish Gaonkar (16).
Saibaba’s Kishor Sinari was the most successful bowler, picking up 4/22 in his 3 overs. Aniket Parab (3/16) also did a good job with the ball.
In reply, Saibaba SC were all out for 115 in 19.4 overs with Aniket Parab (21), Akash Gawas (20) and Uddesh Gawas (16) being the top-3 run-getters.
Dhadsakal bowlers spearheaded by Sugam Gaonkar (4/20), put in a lot of efforts to keep their rivals in check. Saish Gaonkar (2/16) and Aryan Narvekar (2/32) were also amongst the wicket-takers.
Aryan Narvekar was adjudged Man of the Match and the award was handed over by Mahendra Shetye.
In the next match, Shirgao Sports Club batted first and made the most of the opportunity as their batters exhibited positive cricket with the team posting a formidable total of 182/4 in 18 overs. Swapnil Malik (43 off 32 balls; 6×1, 4×5), Prasad Harle (38 off 26 balls; 6×1, 4×6), Devesh Ghadi (28 runs) batted well as Shirgao SC generated the momentum. Their hold on the match continued as Siddhant Sal batters struggled to make a contest and were shot out for 71 runs in 13.3 overs. Only Harshad Matondkar displayed some aggression with the bat as he struck 2 sixes and 3 boundaries in his 11-ball 24 runs knock. Laxman Rawool scored 12 runs in four balls.
All the Shirgao bowlers got one or more wickets to show for their efforts with Vitthal Ghadi (4/21) being most successful. Vishwatej Vaigankar took 2 wickets giving away just 3 runs.
Vitthal Ghadi was named Man of the Match and the prize was presented to him by Rama Naik.
