ARLEM: Vimson Panjim Powerplay beat Ultracon Madgaon Royals by 7 wickets and eliminated them from the semi-finals fray at the Rajdeep Builders Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25, on the 16th Match-day at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Electing to bat first in a must-win match, Ultracon Madgaon Royals lost Megh Netravalkar for 0 in the very 1st over. The skipper Damodar Pai Patnekar (35) and Sarvesh Prabhugaonkar (28) steadied the innings with a 41 run partnership. A 54 run partnership for the 3rd wicket between Damodar and Mahendra Audi (33) helped the Royals to a comfortable position of 98 in the 11th over. However the rest of the Royals batters couldn’t make any sizeable contribution with 6 of them falling for single digits as the innings ended at 144.
Raunak Nargundker and Vardhan Prabhu Misquin picked 2 wickets each while Rasik Pai Khot, Vrushabh Kuncolienkar, Shardul Kenkre, Pranav Kamat and Anurag Borker picked a wicket apiece.
Being the last league match, Ultracon Madgaon Royals needed to win the match by 54 runs to make it to the semifinals, by restricting the Vimson Panjim Powerplay to a maximum score of 90. Vimson Panjim Powerplay lost 2 quick wickets that of Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar (9) and Shiraj Pai Khot getting dismissed for 17, after hitting 4 consecutive boundaries off Megh Netravalkar, with the score reading 37-2 in 4 overs.
Vardhan Prabhu Misquin (37), Rasik Pai Khot (26) and Arsh Sardesai (40) did not give any moments of cheer to the Royals as they raced to the target making 145-3 in 16 overs with Sanket Prabhudesai (6) and Pranav Kamat (5) remaining unbeaten to complete the formalities.
Megh Netravalkar with 2-21 was the lone successful bowler. The loss crushed the hopes of Ultracon Madgaon Royals of making it to the semifinals.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Vardhan Prabhu Misquin collected Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match, Arsh Sardesai received Priority Constructions Best Batter and Raunak Nargundker was awarded Wakao Best Bowler.
Desserts n More Avengers will play the 1st semi-final against DNS / VMJ’s Rookies while Priority Titans will square up against Commonwealth Fountainheads in the 2nd semi-final on Sunday 2 March 2025 at the Arlem Cricket Ground.
