ARLEM: Commonwealth Fountainheads crushed MLT Cricket Club by 62 runs; while in the second match, DNS/ VMJ’s Rookies cruised past SinQ Rangers by 7 wickets and 21 balls to spare on the 12th day of the 7th edition of Rajdeep Builders Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25, at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Match 1: Commonwealth Fountainheads vs MLT Cricket Club
Put in to bat, the Fountainheads openers put on a 49 run stand in 4.4 overs with the skipper Amod Borkar making 38 (19 balls, 6 x 4s) and Gaurish Shenvi Lotlikar making 17. Aditya Prabhugaonkar (16) and Amey Rajadhyax (38) added 56 runs for the 3rd wicket in only 31 balls while the lower order contributions from Saish Hegde 25 not out and Raghuvir Gharse (12) helped them to post 178/8. Manish Kakode with 2-14 and Dattaraj Pai Fondekar 2-19 were assisted by Siddhesh Bodke and Anish Kakode with a wicket each.
In reply, MLT Cricket Club started on a confident note scoring 21 off the very 1st over. However, barring Adv. Sachin Sardesai (26) and Siddhesh Bodke (30) none of the MLT batters could handle the bowling attack, with 6 of the batters falling for single digit scores as the team folded up for a paltry 116 in 14.3 overs. Aditya Prabhugaonkar with 4-13 was the pick of the bowlers. Saish Hegde and Yash Prabhugaonkar snapped 2 wickets each while Pratap Prabhugaonkar and Amod Borkar picked a wicket each.
The big win by 62 runs not only helped the Commonwealth Fountainheads to leapfrog to the top of the points table but also resulted in the exit of Vimson Panjim Powerplay from making it to the knockouts. MLT Cricket Club with 8 points will be looking for a win in their last league match to make it to the semifinals. The following individual prizes were awarded: Aditya Prabhugaonkar got Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match award, Amay Rajadhyaksh collected Priority Constructions Best Batter award and Saish Hegde picked Wakao Best Bowler award.
Match 2: DNS – DNS / VMJ’s Rookies vs SinQ Rangers
Put in to bat first, SinQ Rangers skipper Sahil Adwalpalkar with 35 led the charge to help his team post 145/6 in 20 overs, helped by a quickfire unbeaten 28 (21 balls) from Kaushik Pai Fondekar, lower down the order. Ved Mahambre with 2-15 led the Rookies attack and was complimented by a wicket each by Aghan Bhandare, Pratham Kossambe, Mihir Gaitonde and Sukrut Pai.
In reply, the DNS /VMJ’s Rookies romped home to 147-3 in 16.3 overs with Rupesh Kossambe (26), Eeshan Kamat (38) and Ved Mahambre (26) making the bulk of the scoring. The formalities were completed by Sukrut Pai (18) and Rajaram Kundaikar (13) both of whom remained not out to guide the Rookies home. Sanat Mhapne chipped in with a consolation wicket. The win by 7 wickets and 21 balls to spare kept the Rookies in the hunt for a spot in the semifinals while the SinQ Rangers campaign came to an early end. The following individual prizes were awarded: Ved Mahambre collected Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match, Eeshan Kamat received Priority Constructions Best Batter and Aghan Bhandare was awarded Wakao Best Bowler.
