Panaji: Priority Titans won their second consecutive match of PGML 4.0 T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Panjim Gymkhana on Sunday. RC Goa tasted victory in their campaign-opener earlier today.
Priority Titans got the better of Dempo Challengers by six wickets, with skipper Mukhtar Kadri (37 off 19 balls not out) once again emerging ‘Grant Thornton’ Man of the Match for the Titans in the chase of victory target of 148.
Ojas also continued his good form, making an impressive 38 off 25 balls. Sameer Chodankar contributed 21 runs as Titans reached 150/4 in 17.5 overs.
Dempo led by Tunish Sawkar, lacked fluency at the top of their batting order and only recovered to pose a fighting total of 147/8 thanks to middle order batters Vijay (30 off 17 balls) and Shubham Lokre (25 not out off 17 balls). Ketan Nandrekar also made a valuable contribution of 30 runs.
Earlier, RC Goa registered a 4-wicket win against star-studded Baale Tigers, who have Robin Dsouza and Harshad Gadekar on their team. The day however, belonged to Ramnath Gaonkar who put in a fabulous all-round performance with 5/18 with the ball and scored 26 runs in the low-scoring match. The PGML debutant was presented ‘Grant Thornton’ Man of the Match and Outstanding Performance with Ball (4 or more wickets) awards.
Baale Tigers, who were also playing their first match, were restricted to 112 after electing to bat first with captain Shushrut Nasnodkar (21) being the top scorer.
RC Goa reached the victory target in 16.1 overs. Swayam Naik (35) and Abhijit Bhandare (34) gave them a flying start with an opening partnership of 66 runs. RC Goa then suffered a mini-collapse before Ramnath steadied the ship.
