Mashem: Margao Cricket Club registered a comfortable 71-run victory over Sportsweek and entered the semi-finals of 43rd Nanda Lolayekar Trophy sponsored by Commonwealth Developers and organised by Mashem Cricket Club at Nirakar Maidan, Mashem-Canacona.
Put into bat, MCC were all out for 232 runs in 34.3 overs with decent contributions from Yash Kasvankar (59), Aditya Suryawanshi (57), Sanath Nevagi (40) and Somesh Prabhudessai (35 off 20 balls).
Deepak Kumar (3/35), Chandan Borkar (2/64) and Kaushal Singh (2/30) were amongst the wickets for Sportsweek.
The run-chase was marred by regular fall of wickets. As such, Sportsweek never really gained momentum to challenge MCC. No. 3 batter Vaibhav Naik (37) provided a hint of resistance before he was castled by Somesh Prabhudessai (2/38). Kaushal Singh contributed 33 off 31 balls, lower down the order.
Deep Kasvankar (4/31) was the pick of the bowlers. Aryan Mishra and Keith Pinto claimed two wickets each.
Somesh Prabhudessai was named Man of the Match for his all-round impact on the match.
