GOVT COLLEGE KHANDOLA TOP GOA UNIVERSITY INTER-COLLEGIATE MEN’S CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP 2024-25

PANAJI: Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce in Khandola emerged victorious against Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre in Assagao, by a margin of 28 runs to win the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Men’s Cricket Championship 2024-25.

In the final at the Goa University ground on Thursday, Khandola college won the toss and elected to bat first.

Government College posted a total of 143/8 in the allotted 20 overs. The top performers with the bat were Rishab Phadte, who scored 35 runs off 24 balls, and Paarth Kossambe, who contributed 31 runs from 27 balls. DM’s College bowlers Vardhan Misquin and Rohan Zantye took 2 wickets each.
 
Chasing the target of 144 runs to win, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College could only manage a total of 115 runs before being all out in 18.5 overs. Yash Gad was the top scorer with 37 runs off 38 balls, while Aman Dhooper contributed 20 runs from just 9 balls.

Khandola’s Snehith Panicker excelled with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs. Tanish Kadekar, Narendra Tari, and Nischay Naik each claimed 2 wickets.

Snehith was named Best Player of the Championship for being the most valuable player of the tournament by scoring 83 runs and taking 11 wickets.

Senior Professor Ganesha Somayaji from D.D. Kosambi School of Social Sciences & Behavioural Studies and chairman of Board of studies of Physical Education, was the chief guest for prize distribution ceremony. Prof. Dr. Purnakala Samant, Principal of Government College Khandola, was guest of honour. Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University, was also present.
