Goa suffered second consecutive defeat in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in progress in Nagpur, on Friday. They lost by 15 runs to Kerala. In the first match yesterday, Goa had gone down by 26 runs to Himachal Pradesh.
Once again electing to field first, Goa bowlers did a good job of restricting Kerala to 128/9. Experienced all-rounder Sunanda Yetrekar was the best bowler on show as she picked up 4/23 off her four overs. Tarannum Pathan and Shikha Pandey took two wickets each. Poorva Bhaidkar also had one wicket to show for her effort with the ball.
In the chase, Goa failed to get decent partnerships in as wickets tumbled at regular intervals. The highest stand that any wicket raised for Goa was worth 28 runs – first when Sunanda (21) and Shikha (15) combined for the fourth wicket. Thereafter, the eighth-wicket partnership looked to rekindle Goa’s hope of mounting a successful chase but the 28-run union was broken when Tejashwini Duragad was out for 24 runs. Earlier, Purvaja Verlekar contributed 22 runs at the top of the order. Nikita remained not out on 12 runs. Goa were all out for 113 runs in 19.2 overs.
