Half-centuries by Siddharth KV and skipper Darshan Misal went in vain as Goa lost to Gujarat by 15 runs in a high-scoring match at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament in Ranchi on Thursday.
Chasing Gujarat’s score of 216/7, Goa reached 201/6 with wicketkeeper Siddharth KV scoring 53 runs off 37 balls (5×4, 1×6) and Darshan coming up with another blazing knock of 50 not out off 20 balls (3×4, 5×6). Ishan Gadekar (32), Deepraj Gaonkar (30), Rahul Tripathi (22) made handy contributions.
Siddharth and Darshan smacked 59 runs off 30 balls in their partnership for the fifth wicket to keep Goa in the hunt. But the target was beyond their reach even as 17 runs came off the last over.
Earlier, Gujarat won the toss and elected to bat first. Urvil Patel top-scored with 46 runs off 19 balls. Mohit Redkar, Lakshay Garg and Arjun Tendulkar took two wickets each. Shubham Tari claimed one wicket.
