Goa crushed Arunachal Pradesh by nine wickets and won with almost 12 overs to spare, in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Ranchi on Saturday. This is Goa’s third victory in the T20 tournament following the success against Andhra and Manipur.
Ishaan Gadekar led Goa’s charge in the chase as he smashed five boundaries and four sixes on his way to 58 runs off 30 balls, and put on 99 runs for the first wicket with Rahul Tripathi. The other opener contributed an unbeaten 35 runs off 16 balls, which included six hits to the fence. Impact Player, Tunish Sawkar remained not out on 14 off 3 balls as Goa chased down the target of 114 in just 8.1 overs.
Earlier, Arunachal won the toss and elected to bat. A good bowling performance led by Deepraj Gaonkar (3/9) and Mohit Redkar (2/17) restricted Arunachal to 113/7. Opener, Aayush Awasthi (48) was the top run-getter for Arunachal, while Sitesh Kumar Das (20) was the only other batter in double digits.
