Goa thrash Mizoram by 92 runs, register second successive victory in Senior Women’s T20 Trophy

Goa captain Sanjula Naik and Shreya Parab put their team on the track to victory after a solid opening partnership that was more than what the entire Mizoram team conjured up, in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in Vadodara on Friday.

It was a comfortable outing for Goa girls as their total of 149/5 proved too much for Mizoram, who were restricted to 57/9. The 92-run win is Goa’s second consecutive success in the ongoing BCCI tournament.

Electing to bat first, the opening pair of Sanjula and Shreya played positive cricket and put on 75 runs in 12.2 overs. Sanjula was the top-scorer with 68 runs off 60 balls which included eight boundaries. Shreya contributed 41 runs off 35 balls with seven boundaries lighting up her knock. Purvaja Verlelar and Tarannum Pathan scored 16 and 12 runs respectively.

Tarannum then maintained her good form with the ball and was once again highest wicket-taker for Goa, picking up 3/17. Poorva Bhaidkar took 2 wickets; while Shikha Pandey, Priti Yadav and Sunanda Yetrekar claimed one wicket each.
