Geno Dragons registered a convincing 4-wicket win over Desserts N’More Avengers in the 1st ‘Test’ and took a 1-0 lead; in the 7th edition of Desserts N’More Sarsangan Junior Cricket Series 2024-25 at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Electing to bat first, DnM Avengers put on 234-8 in their 1st innings with good knocks from Kaushal Churi who made 78 not out and received support from Rajat Dalal 48, Aditya Dalal 39 and the skipper Paarth Kossambe contributing 25. For the Geno Dragons, Savnee Mhambrey was the pick of the bowlers picking 3-15 while Anurag Borker 2-21, Ved Pai 1-16, Om Keny 1-24 and Saish Hegde 1-26 were the notable bowlers.
In reply, Geno Dragons were stuttering at 71-6 with none of their top order batters able to withstand the Avengers bowling. However, Sanat Prabhudesai making full use of the 3 lives offered by the Avengers, made them pay for their mistakes with a blistering century, the 1st in the 7 years of Sarsangan Cricket Series, making an unbeaten 155 in 77 balls (16 x 4s, 9 x 6s) helping the Geno Dragons post 251-8, and take a vital 17 runs lead in the 1st innings.
Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar with figures of 2-6, Kaushal Churi 2-28, Kunal Kuncolienkar 1-27, Rajat Dalal 1-35 and Aditya Dalal 1-38 were the successful bowlers.
In the 2nd innings, DnM Avengers came out with a spirited approach as Aditya Dalal blasted an unbeaten 53 (24 balls, 4 x 4s, 3 x6s) and with the help of his skipper Paarth Kossambe 36 (18 balls, 4 x 4s, 1 x6s) and Kaushal Churi 32 (15 balls, 3 x 4s, 1 x 6s) took the Avengers to 157-5, to give the Geno Dragons a target of 141 to chase. Savnee Mhambrey was once again in the limelight picking 2-4 while Om Keny picked 2-8.
Chasing 141 to win, the Dragons were caught in a spin web of Ayan Borkar and Aahesh Prabhigaonkar as they slid to 89-5 with only Atchut Naik Dalal making a decent 37 (18 balls, 6 x 4s). But a timely 44 run partnership in 29 balls between Sanat Prabhudesai 25 (17 balls) and Sahil Neurenkar 27 not out (14 balls) helped the Dragons reach the target with 4 wickets to spare as they made 141-6, thus taking a 1-0 lead in the Desserts n More Junior Cricket Series. Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar 2-5, Ayan Borkar 2-23, Kaushal Churi 1-32 were the successful bowlers.

Kapil Kamat owner of Tyre Xpress & Unique Cars and BCCI Umpire Nitin Roghuvir Pai were the guests for the inaugural ceremony in the morning while Aditya Prabhugaonkar, Dilip Panandikar, Siddharth Borker, Mahesh Churi were the guests for the prize distribution ceremony in the evening.
The remaining matches of the series will be played on 24, 26, 27, 30 & 31 December 2024 at Arlem Ground.
