ARLEM: Desserts N’More Avengers exacted sweet revenge by defeating Geno Dragons in the 2nd ‘Test’ registering a 13-run win to draw level 1-1 in the 6-‘Test’ Match series in the 7th edition of Desserts N’More Sarsangan Junior Cricket Series 2024-25 at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Put into bat, DnM Avengers put on 251-9 in their 1st innings with young Adeep Prabhu Miskin leading the charge with a quickfire 57 (28 balls, 7 x 4s, 3 x 6s) with support from Kush Pai Raikar 16, Paarth Kossambe 12, skipper Rajat Dalal 22 and Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar 11. The day though belonged to the diminutive Aditya Dalal who blasted a stroke filled unbeaten 105 in 52 balls with 11 x 4s, 3 x 6s, sending the ball to all parts of the vast Arlem ground. Pratham Prabhugaonkar with 2-29 led the fightback while Shriyans Prabhu Alvenkar, Sahil Neurekar, Ishan Hodarkar, Saish Hegde and Anurag Borker picked a wicket each.
In reply, the Geno Dragons replied strongly through their openers Atchut Naik Dalal 29 and Ishan Hodarkar 50, putting on a 50 run opening partnership. A lower order burst by Sanat Prabhudesai 52 and Sahil Neurenkar 26 helped the Geno Dragons put up 194-7 in their 1st innings. Ayan Borkar with his leg spin picked 2-9 and received support from Aahesh Prabhugaonkar 2-26 and Pramay Prabhu 1-28.
Having taken a sizeable 1st innings lead of 57 runs, the DnM Avengers were dismissed for 101 in the 2nd essay with only the skipper Rajat Dalal 29 not out and Kaushal Churi 21 offering resistance to the pace of Pratham Prabhugaonkar who skittled the opposition with a 5 wicket haul giving away just 9 runs. Suyash Sangaonkar 2-18, Ishan Hodarkar 1-7, Pranav Nagarsekar 1-11 and Avinash Sakhardande 1-12 provided the support for Geno Dragons.
Needing 159 to win, Geno Dragons openers Vismay Falgaonkar with 23 and Saish Hegde with 28 led the charge but with 7 of the batters not able to cross double figures, the Dragons were left to score 38 in the last 2 overs. Sahil Neurenkar with an unbeaten 55 (35 balls, 3 x 4s, 1 x 6s) and Suyash Sangaonkar with 12 tried their best but the Dragons could manage 145-8 thus falling short by 13 runs, Desserts n more winning by 13 runs to level the 6 match test Series 1-1 with 4 matches to play.
