Margao: Stamina CC & La Paz SC Vasco beat Goa Sports Academy and National CC respectively and entered the last-8 stage of the 3rd Chandrakant Karapurkar Trophy SAG ground, Fatorda here on Sunday.
Stamina CC, Betim posted a decent total of 167 for 7 in 18 overs. Pramod Naik was the top-scorer with 40 runs, while Sarvesh Sawant and N Nagarkar both scored 30 runs each. GSA’s Abhinandan Thakur was most successful bowler with 2/33.
GSA in reply, started well scoring 66 in 6 overs when Narayan Gawas (43) became the first wicket to fall. There after, Arjun Morajkar kept pegging the rival batters back as he picked 5/24 and the Panaji-based side were all out for 132.
In the other match, La Paz outplayed National CC after putting up 189 for 8 in 20 overs and bowling out the Mapusa-based outfit for 88.
La Paz’s Amey Dhamsekar scored a quickfire 60 while Saurav Kaundlass (29) and ex-Ranji cricketer Sher Bahadur Yadav (26 ) played a good hand. Manas Raikar (2/21) bowled well for National. The guile of SB Yadav (3/15) then dismantled National’s chase and handed a facile victory to La Paz.
