AMONA: Shirgao Sports Club and Sachi XI entered the semi-finals of Saibaba SC All-Goa Panchayat and Municipality T20 tournament at Uzzate ground, Amona today.
Shirgao Sports Club got the better of Dhadsakhal Marcel by three wickets in the quarter-finals.
Batting first, Dhadsakhal Marcel posted a moderate total of 126/9 in 18 overs. Sharmesh Gaonkar scored a strokeful 40 runs off 20 balls, which included 7 boundaries and one sixer. Abhishek Kothambikar made 37 runs off 23 balls (6×1, 4×5).Sarvesh Solapurkar contributed 21 runs.
Keeping the rival batters quiet in general, Shirgao Sports Club’s Vishwatej Vaigankar (3/23) and Tek Bahadur (2/30) were the key wicket-takers.
Shirgao Sports Club reached the winning target in 17.2 overs with 128/7 being their final score. Kedar Chari played the finisher’s role to perfection with an unbeaten knock of 30 runs off 18 balls, which included 2 sixes and 3 boundaries. Sagar Sawant and Chandrakant Ghadi contributed 23 and 19 runs respectively.
Dhadsakhal bowlers Gauresh Sawant (3/36) and Abhishek Kothambikar (2/38) were the main wicket-takers.
Vishwatej Vaigankar was adjudged Man of the Match. Khemlo Sawant presented the award.
In the next match, Sachi XI posted a challenging total of 163/9 in 18 overs as Samarth Gawas led a charmed life and made the opponents pay for their mistakes with a power-packed knock of 85 off 37 balls that included 8 sixes and 4 boundaries. Rohit Ghadi scored 36 runs off 25 balls.
For Khutkar Brothers, Mahendra Kopardejar picked up 3/22; while Satendra Shelke and Eknath Khutkar took 2 wickets each.
In their chase, Khutkar Brothers were all out for 147 runs in 17.2 overs. Shubham Gajinkar (36), Satendra Shelke (35) and Pranay Dessai (27) got decent starts but failed to convert their knock into an impactful contribution.
Avishkar Mone sparkled with the ball with his return of 4/23, while Avinash Gauns picked up 3/36 as Sachi XI won by 16 runs. Samarth Gawas was named Man of the Match. Manraj Bishnoi presented the award.
