ARLEM: Antruz Aviators & Ultracon Madgaon Royals won their respective matches on the second day of Sarsangan Priority Veterans Cricket Series 2025 at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Match 1: Antruz Aviators vs Mapusa Dream Crushers
Electing to bat first, Mapusa Dream Crushers lost 2 early wickets that of Anant Chodnekar (1) and Avinash Kossambe (5) but recovered through Nilesh Prabhudesai (18) and Rupesh Kossambe (16). The innings got the desired momentum through Vibhav Pai (35, 20 balls, 6x4s) and Amit Kamat (36, 22 balls, 3x4s, 2x6s) as Dream Crushers raced to 137-4 in the 16th over.
The lower middle order couldn’t contribute much, though Bhushan Pai Vernekar (19) and Shailesh Mahajan (11) helped them to post 164-8 in 20 overs. Sarvesh Kamat 2-13, Jaiprakash Kunde 2-22, Prasad Bhende 1-23 and Rasik Pai Khot 1-27 were the successful bowlers.
In reply, Antruz Aviators lost Prasad Bhende on the very 1st ball but recovered through Sarvesh Kamat (23), Yogesh Naik (14) and Sandeep Phaldesai (19). Sachin Kenkre played a key innings of 38 (27 balls, 4x4s) to take the Aviators to 108-4 in the 13th over.
An unbeaten 59 run partnership in 39 balls between ex Ranji wk Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar (23) and Rasik Pai Khot (35) sealed the match for the Antruz Aviators by 6 wickets as they reached the target making 167-4 in 18.5 overs. Shailesh Mahajan, Mahesh Kudchadkar and Balkrishna Hodarkar picked a wicket apiece.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Sarvesh Kamat collected Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match award, Sachin Kenkre was adjudged Priority Constructions Best Batter while Jaiprakash Kunde picked Wakao Best Bowler award.
Match 2: Delite Titans vs Ultracon Madgaon Royals
Electing to bat first, Delite Titans lost 3 wickets in the 1st 4 overs to be 27-3 but recovered through Amogh Namshiker 35 (21 balls, 2x4s, 2x6s) and Siddesh Desai 37 (26 balls, 1x6s) as they took the Titans to 104-3 in the 12th over. Siddesh Bodke (25), Shiraj Pai Khot (11 no) and Paresh Prabhudesai (30) helped the Delite Titans to post a commanding 173 on the board.
In reply, Ultracon Madgaon Royals, lost 2 quick wickets to be 7-2 in the 2nd over. However Vishwesh Kamat hit a quickfire 38 (18 balls, 6x4s, 1x6s) and in the company of Deep Bhende (23) and Yatin Kaissare (11) helped the Royals to 111-4 in the 13th over.
Dr. Sarvesh Kamat played a calculated innings of 40 (26 balls, 3x4s, 1x6s) supported by Rakesh Mallya (12 no) and Samrudh Hegde Desai (24 no) as the Royals raced to 177-4 in 18.1 overs, winning by 6 wickets. Sachin Neurekar took 2 wickets while Siddhesh Bodke and Siddhesh Desai picked a wicket each.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Samrudh Hegde Desai collected Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match, Dr. Sarvesh Kamat received Priority Constructions Best Batter and Sachin Neurekar was awarded Wakao Best Bowler.
Antruz Aviators top the points table with 4 points with 2 wins from 2 matches followed by Ultracon Madgaon Royals with 2 points, Mapusa Dream Crushers and Delite Titans with a point each.
