ARLEM: Antruz Aviators beat Delite Titans while Ultracon Madgaon Royals beat Mapusa Dream Crushers on the third day of Sarsangan Priority Veterans Cricket Series 2025 at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Match 1: Antruz Aviators vs Delite Titans
Electing to bat first, Antruz Aviators put on 231-4 in 20 overs, the highest score of the Sarsangan Priority Veterans Cricket Series, thanks to an entertaining 52 run opening stand between Prasad Bhende (35) and Sarvesh Kamat (35). Also contributing to the cause were Anoop Borkar (28), Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar (23), Yogesh Naik (33 no) and Jayesh Timblo (18 no). Sandip Audi, Siddesh Pai and Vishnu Namshikar picked a wicket each.
In reply, Delite Titans started on a convincing note through Sandip Thali (37) and Shiraj Pai Khot (15) as they put on an identical 52 run stand. However, the introduction of spin, saw Delite Titans lose a flurry of wickets as Gomakant Mahambrey ripped through the middle order picking 2 wickets and effecting a run out. A brilliant stumping by Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar sent Paresh Prabhudesai back as the Titans slid to 79-5 in the 10th over.
Vishnu Namshikar and Siddesh Pai made 17 each but Delite Titans folded up on 131 giving a 100 run win to the Antruz Aviators. Gomakant Mahambrey and Sandeep Phaldesai picked 2 wickets each while Prasad Bhende, Jaiprakash Kunde and Yogesh Naik picked a wicket each.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Prasad Bhende collected Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match, Sandip Thali received Priority Constructions Best Batter and Sandeep Phaldesai was awarded Wakao Best Bowler.
Match 2: Ultracon Madgaon Royals vs Mapusa Dream Crushers
Put in to bat first, Ultracon Madgaon Royals put on 180-3 in 20 overs, with runs coming from the bats of Vishwesh Kamat (38), Sandeep Dalal (38), Ashish Dukle (17) and Rakesh Mallya (35). Shailesh Mahajan was the lone successful bowler picking a wicket.
In reply, Rajesh Colvalcar (28) and Balkrishna Hodarkar (20) gave a good start to the Mapusa Dream Crushers but the introduction of Deep Bhende saw them lose 3 quick wickets as the score read 53-3 in the 8th over. Dr. Sagar Salgaocar (15), Amith Kamat (22), Avinash Kossambe (34) and Laxmikant Kurade (20) tried their best, but the Dream Crushers fell short by 14 runs to be all out for 166. Deep Bhende, Yatin Kaisare and Samrudh Hegde Desai picked 2 wickets each while Rakesh Mallya and Dr. Sarvesh Kamat picked a wicket each.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Rakesh Mallya collected Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match award, Vishwesh Kamat was adjudged Priority Constructions Best Batter while Deep Bhende picked Wakao Best Bowler award.
Antruz Aviators top the points table with 6 points with 3 wins from 3 matches followed by Ultracon Madgaon Royals with 4 points, Mapusa Dream Crushers and Delite Titans share the third spot with a point each, Antruz Aviators will take on Ultracon Madgaon Royals while Mapusa Dream Crushers will face Delite Titans on Sunday.
