Porvorim: Salgaocar Cricket Club lifted the Goa Premier League 2023-24 title, while Desserts N’More Geno Sports Club emerged the runners-up of the annual three-dayers championship organised by Goa Cricket Association.
Salgaocar amassed a tally of 25 points from five matches, with three wins and two draws to their name. Geno had 22 points from 3 wins and two draws as well. Margao Cricket Club (12) finished third. Chowgule Sports Club (8), Manas Panjim Gymkhana (7), and Dempo Cricket Club (7) occupy the last three positions respectively.
In the fifth and final round of matches, Salgaocar pocketed three points from first-innings lead while Geno got one point from the virtual final after both teams were separated by a point at the end of four rounds.
Playing at the GCA Academy ground, Porvorim, Salgaocar posted 382 all out in the first innings to which Geno replied with 253 all out. Salgaocar were all out for 111 in the second innings while Geno were 92/6 at the close of play.
Elsewhere, Dempo Cricket Club scored their only victory of the tournament when they beat Manas Panjim Gymkhana by 125 runs in Panjim on Saturday. Over at GCA ground, Sanguem, Margao CC got first-innings lead over Chowgule SC in the drawn encounter.

Snehal Kauthankar (Manas PG) with 499 runs aggregate, emerged the top run-getter of this season’s GPL. Deepraj Gaonkar of Salgaocar trailed Snehal by six runs, finishing second on the list.
Salgaocar’s Sagar Udeshi (46) scalped highest number of wickets in the tournament. Geno’s Mohit Redkar finished second with 43 wickets to his credit.
