Goa are placed in the driver’s seat in their Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Sikkim after the end of second day’s play in Rangpo on Saturday.
Goa have a 209 runs lead over the hosts, who were reduced to 50/3 in their second innings after the visitors declared their first innings on 367/4.
Centuries by KV Siddharth (130 not out) and Manthan Khutkar (104) were the highlight of the day after Goa resumed the action with the bat at overnight score of 90/0.
Suyash Prabhudessai (54) was the first man to be dismissed as he was run out. The opening partnership with Rohan Kadam (55) was worth 101 runs. Soon after, Rohan made the long walk back with team total reading 127.
Manthan and Siddharth then put on a fabulous partnership of 206 runs for the third wicket, thus driving Goa into a strong position. Siddharth blazed 10 boundaries and three sixers, while Manthan registered seven boundaries. Captain Darshan Misal contributed 11 runs.
Sikkim were rocked early in their second essay at the crease with Arjun Tendulkar (2/20) dislodging both the openers. Misal picked the other wicket to fall. Parth P and Arun are at the crease with respective score of 18 and 7.
