ARLEM: MLT Cricket Club overcame the challenge of Mapusa Dream Crushers by 20 runs on the 11th day of the 7th edition of Rajdeep Builders Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25 at Arlem Ground while in the second match, Desserts n More Avengers won a thrilling contest against Vimson Panjim Powerplay by 3 wickets and 2 balls to spare.
Match 1: Mapusa Dream Crushers vs MLT Cricket Club
Put in to bat, MLT Cricket Club put up 165-7 in 20 overs with the team owner Siddhesh Sinai Amonkar ending his lean form to hit 35 (29 balls, 4 x 4s, 1 x 6s), Atchut Naik Dalal (34, 24 balls, 3 x 4s, 1 x 6s), Nityay Kuncolienkar 38 (20 balls, 4 x 4s, 1 x 6s) and Manish Kakode 38 (22 balls, 5 x 4s, 1 x 6s) helped to boost the total. Paarth Kossambe with 3-18 was the destroyer in chief and was assisted by Keshav Bhat 2-14 and Durgesh Prabhugaonkar 2-29.
In reply, Mapusa Dream Crushers started on a positive note with Sarvesh Kamat 33 (27 balls, 4 x 4s) and Sanjay Netravalkar 27 (18 balls, 3 x 4s, 1 x 6s). But Siddhesh Bodke with a magical spell of 4-22 off his 3 overs not only took wickets put also the brakes on the scoring rate making it near impossible for the tailenders to complete the job. Though Varun Kudchadkar hit a quick 16 (7 balls, 2 x 4s, 1 x 6s), his departure sealed the fate of the Dream Crushers as they were dismissed for 145 in 18.2 overs giving MLT a 20 run win and more importantly 2 points to move to the 3rd spot with 8 points after 5 rounds of league matches. Siddhesh Bodke with 4-22 was the strike bowler with support from Dattaraj Pai Fondekar 2-10, Manish Kakode 2-17, Ishan Hodarkar 1-17 and Anish Kakode 1-25
The following individual prizes were awarded: Manish Kakode got Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match award, Nityay Kuncolienkar collected Priority Constructions Best Batter award and Siddhesh Bodke picked Wakao Best Bowler award.
Match 2: DNS – Vimson Panjim Powerplay vs Desserts n More Avengers
Electing to bat first, Vimson Panjim Powerplay put up an imposing 161/6 in 20 overs with Vardhan Prabhu Miskin top scoring with 37 (19 balls, 6 x 4s) and Sandeep Dalal making 35 (28 balls, 3 x 4s, 1 x 6s). Prasad Bhende (22), Siddhant Kunde (21) and Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar (17) helped to boost the total. Nimay Kamat, Akhil Nadkarni, Samrudh Hegde Desai and Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar picked a wicket each.
In reply, the Desserts n More Avengers batters, Aditya Dalal 38 (12 balls, 6 x 4s, 2 x 6s) and Vaibhav Kadkade 35 (24 balls, 6 x 4s) led the charge smashing the bowlers to all parts of the ground. The formalities were completed with 4 balls to spare as the Avengers reached 164-7 in 19.2 overs to secure a hard fought and close win with contributions from skipper Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar 27 (15 balls, 3 x 4s, 1 x 6s), Akhil Nadkarni’s 18 and Sachin Bhandare’s 16. The 2 points from the win helped the Desserts n More Avengers to reach pole position with 8 points after completion of 5 league matches, Priority Titans and MLT Cricket Club follow them on 2nd and 3rd spot with identical 8 points separated by Net Run Rate. Vardhan Prabhu Miskin with 3-4 was at his miserly best and received support from Sandeep Dalal, Vrushabh Kuncolienkar, Prasad Bhende and Raunak Nargundker who chipped in with a wicket each.
