Progress HS top ‘Game 4 Change’ cricket tourney; PGCA Scholarship & Pro-Training exposure trip on roadmap to promote talent from marginalised community

PANAJI: Panjim Gymkhana played hosts to an innovative cricket event today where underprivileged children from four schools enjoyed the experience of playing at the Satish Timblo Indoor Cricket Arena here on Thursday. Progress High School were the winners of the U-14 tennis ball tourney held on the occasion. They thumped Government HS Dona Paula in the final. Anjuman HS finished third while Kasturba Matoshri occupied the fourth position.

Neal Rohan Timblo is the young man behind this ‘Game 4 Change’ initiative whereby the marginalised community is set to get access to top facilities like a one-year free scholarship of the Panjim Gymkhana Cricket Academy (PGCA). Four students will be selected for the scholarship from the 10 probables picked from today’s event. The scholarship is a crucial incentive, encouraging young players to commit to the sport and pursue excellence. By removing financial barriers, the initiative ensures that talented youth have the opportunity to continue their development and stay focused on their goals.

Rohan Satish Timblo announced that the ‘Game 4 Change’ will grow bigger with the endeavour being to involve more schools and conduct the event regularly.

According to Neal, the ‘Game 4 Change’ initiative aims to address the socio-economic challenges faced by these marginalised young individuals by offering them a purpose, direction and an opportunity to excel.

“By providing structured sports activities and targeted support, Game 4 Change hopes to pave the way for a brighter future for Goa’s youth,” asserted Neal.

The Timblos are also keen on providing a higher level of training opportunity outside Goa. PGCA trainees will be scouted and monitored for their stage-wise progress and the best four players aged around 14 years, from the academy will be selected to undergo two weeks of top-tier training in professional environment in Bengaluru or Mumbai, accompanied by their head coach.

‘Game 4 Change’ thus has the roadmap that ensures that talent is not wasted due to lack of resources or opportunities.
