Porvorim: Iqbal XI beat Siolim Sports Club by 68 runs in the final of Goa Cricket Association’s ‘C Division’ at GCA academy ground here on Wednesday.
Iqbal XI posted 216 runs in 38.1 overs and bowled out Siolim SC for 148 runs in 34.2 overs for a comfortable victory in the State final.
Iqbal XI built their total on the basis of sizeable contributions from Prajesh Parab (69 runs off 96 balls) and Siddhant Doshi (60 runs off 67 balls). Siolim’s Sachin Kapade picked up 5/41 while Rahul Vishwakarma had a return of 3/45.
In the run chase, Siolim’s Peter Fernandes missed his century by just three runs as he scored a strokeful 97 off 95 balls, which included nine boundaries and four sixes. Among Iqbal XI bowlers, Sagar Gosavi was the most successful with 5/14 being his memorable return.
