Porvorim: Salgaocar Cricket Club and Desserts N’More Geno Sports Club are locked in a fierce battle for glory in the ongoing Goa Premier League 2023-24 organised by Goa Cricket Association.
After three rounds of matches, Salgaocar and Geno have collected identical tally of points with 15 each to their credit from two wins and a draw. Salgaocar are at the top due to their superior quotient.
With a win, draw and a loss Margao Cricket Club have nine points to their name and occupy the third position in the points table. Chowgule Sports Club (6) with one victory and two defeats, are placed fourth. Manas Panjim Gymkhana (4) are second from bottom while the defending champions Dempo Cricket Club, who lost two matches and drew one, are at the bottom with just one point in their account.
With two rounds of matches remaining, the two-horse title race looks like heading down to the wire. Salgaocar taking on Geno from 4th to 6th April, looks like a virtual final of the longest-format domestic tournament under the aegis of GCA.
Looking at the individual performances of the batters, Snehal Kauthankar of Manas Panjim Gymkhana occupies the top position with 336 runs. Among the bowlers, Sagar Udeshi of Salgaocar is topping the chart with 31 wickets.
