Panaji: Nageshi Youth and Ashvi SC Khandola moved ahead in the ongoing Betim United Trophy 2023 here on Sunday.
Nageshi Youth got the better of Young Stars of Moula by eight runs while Ashvi SC Khandola beat Shiv Bhumika Sal by 27 runs.
Nageshi Youth batted first and scored 147 runs with bulk of the runs coming off the bats of Vishwajeet Phadte Gaonkar (43) and Sachin Kurpaskar (38). In reply, Young Stars of Moula were restricted to 139/7 with Sunil Gaonkar (51) being their top-scorer. Shubham Desai of Nageshi Youth picked up 3 wickets giving away just 17 runs off his four overs, to make a match-winning contribution.
In the other match, Ashvi SC Khandola rode on Rohan Bogati’s unbeaten 52 off 48 balls and 43 off 26 balls by Sarvesh Solapurkar, to post 135/7. Atish Raut was the most successful bowler for Shiv Bhumika Sal with figures 3/22.
In reply, Shiv Bhumika Sal were all out for 108 runs in 17.2 overs. Ashvi SC’s Sugam Gaonkar (3/21) and Mohit Tari (3/30) kept picking up the wickets to play a big role in their team’s win. Laxman Raut was the top scorer for Shiv Bhumika Sal with 30 runs to his name.
