Margao: Defending champions Margao Cricket Club brushed aside the challenge of Cricket Club of Altinho by 6 wickets and entered the final of 3rd Chandrakant Karapurkar Trophy at the floodlit MCC ground.
MCC await the winners of second semi-finals to be played between Dempo CC and Stamina CC, with the grand finale scheduled for 20th April.
The first semi-final saw CC Altinho, Mapusa, opt to bat first and post 141/9 in the alloted 20 overs. Aman Dhooper (52) batted well to be their top-scorer even as the batting department failed to click as a unit, with the next-best contribution coming from captain Sahil Dhuri (20 not out) batting at No 9. MCC pacer Samit Aryan Mishra (3/30) was the pick of the bowlers with off-spinner Aditya Angle (3/27) complementing Aryan well.
MCC built their chase optimally with sensible cricket to reach 144/4 in 19 overs. Vasu Tiwari (49), Shantanu Nevagi (32) and captain Vedant Naik (27 not out) guided the team into the final.
