Margao: Dempo Cricket Club registered a 4-wicket victory over Stamina CC in the second semi-final and booked the title clash against holders MCC, in the 3rd Chandrakant Karapurkar Trophy T20 tournament at the floodlit MCC ground.
Electing to bat first, Stamina CC could manage to post a fighting total of 137/6 with Vikas Desaai (47) being the top-scorer. Siddharth Karpe contributed 36 runs. Dempo’s Craig Dourado, Avinash Gawas and Sahdev Kandolkar picked up 2 wickets each.
Dempo CC suffered early hiccups in the run-chase but recovered along the way as Avishkar Mone (42) and Yogesh Kauthankar (36 not out) put on a crucial partnership of 71 runs for the 4th wicket. Rajshekhar Harikant came up with a cameo knock of 28 runs off 12 balls, which included 3 boundaries and 2 sixes, to ensure Dempo’s pursuit does not encounter a late twist in the tale!
Stamina’s Abhishek Singh was the pick of the bowlers with impressive figures of 3/19, while Tejas Desai picked 2/23.
