Panaji: The first edition of Electricity Premier League tennis ball cricket tournament commenced at SAG ground, Campal, here on Friday morning. In all 10 teams are taking part in the tourney.
Former Goa Ranji Trophy cricketer and co-founder of www.thegoancricketer.com Sudin Kamat was the Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony. Electricity Department Executive Engineer Arun Patil was also present.
The tournament progressed on the league format and at the end of day’s action, Padmashree Panthers topped the Group B with six points. Suncity Challengers are in second position with four points, while Arvinda Avengers are third with two points. Over in Group A, Prabhu Power Hitters are at the top with four points. Three teams – Swastika Strikers, Galaxy Super Giants and Vishwanath Warriors are all tied on two points each. Yogiraj Yodhas (Group A), and Creative Blasters, EPC Infra Tigers (both Group B), are yet to open their account. The league format will lead to the knock-out phase on Saturday.
