Panaji: Young Star of Moula beat Rambhuvan Sports Club by 55 runs and entered the final of GCA B Division (Tiswadi zone), at Panjim Gymkhana ground here on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Young Star of Moula put up a formidable total of 299/5 in 38 overs. Pawan Anand was the top run-getter, scoring an unbeaten 67 runs off 57 balls, which included eight boundaries. Suraj Gond powered his way to 38-ball 60 with six boundaries and three maximums; Kaustubh Pingulkar (48) and Ajinkya Chari (40) were the other two notable contributors.
Rambhuvan Sports Club’s Sambhu Pilainkar took two wickets while Mubarak Deshpaik, Amlon Dsouza and Paresh Katkar picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Rambhuvan SC were all out for 244 runs in 37.4 overs. Their skipper Dipraj Naik top-scored with 44 runs. Nikhil Naik (34 not out), Sambhu Pilainkar (32) and Rohan Halankar (27) were the other notable contributors as the chasing team lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to build the necessary charge against rival bowlers’ ability to strike at ease.
Ajinkya Chari took 3/34 while Walke Sarthak and captain Sanjay Naik picked up two wickets each for Young Star of Moula.
