Panaji: Goa will participate in the 1st All-India Tennis Ball Cricket League 2023 to be held from 1st to 6th September in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, states a press release by Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association (GTBCA).
Tennis Ball Cricket Federation of India is organising the national league where the winners will get a cash prize of Rs 3 Lakh, and runners-up Rs 2 Lakh. The 3rd-placed team will receive Rs 1 Lakh and fourth team Rs 50 Thousand. Individual prizes will also be awarded, further stated the press release.
Tennis Ball Cricket is a recognised sport under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. With a Live Telecast said to be in the offing, the inaugural Tennis Ball Cricket League looks set to gain a wider audience.
In all, 16 teams including Goa, who have regularly done well at the national level; are in the fray at the league.
The Goan team was accorded the official farewell by GTBCA in presence of Rupesh Naik, Secretary, GTBCA; Kirtan Vaiz, Ramdas Varak, Virendra Majik (all GTBCA Taluka convenors), Premanand Naik, Shyamsunder Aier (Mentor), Chandan Dongrekar and Hemant khot (Chief Coach), on 26th August 2023 at Ponda. The team will leave on 29th August by train.
