Swarali Kasar fights lone battle in Goa’s big defeat to Maharashtra in Women’s U-19 T20 Trophy

Goa’s Swarali Kasar scored an unbeaten half-century but that impressive knock could not prevent her side from slumping to a 65-run loss to Maharashtra in the Women’s U-19 T20 Trophy in Jaipur.

Swarali opened the innings and played a solid knock of 50 not out off 62 balls. She hit six boundaries in her innings even as wickets tumbled at the other end.

Harshita Yadav came in after the fall of first wicket. Just when it seemed like the Swarali-Harshita partnership was flourishing with 51 runs being put up for the second wicket, the Goa captain was castled on 15 (23 balls, 4×3) by Gayatri Survase.

No other batter got into double digits with as many as five batters departing without opening their account. Maharashtra bowler Shruti M picked 4/13 in three overs while Gayatri Survase took 2/17 as Goa were restricted to 93/8.

Earlier, Maharashtra won the toss and posted a challenging total of 158/2.
