South Zone lift Prof DB Deodhar Trophy, Mohit Redkar makes brilliant impression

South Zone has added another title to their kitty, winning the Prof DB Deodhar Trophy limited overs tournament to follow up their triumph in Duleep Trophy 2023 earlier this summer.

South Zone beat East Zone by 45 runs in the final at Siechem stadium in Puducherry on Thursday. Batting first, the star-studded South Zone posted 328/8 in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, East Zone were all out for 283 runs in 46.1 overs.

Meanwhile, Goa off-spinner Mohit Redkar made a brilliant impression earlier in the tournament. The Goa Ranji Trophy debutant from last season, made the most of the one opportunity he got to play in the tournament; by picking up 3 wickets giving away 51 runs in his 9 overs against Central Zone. His scalps included IPL sensation Rinku Singh, who was trapped plumb in front to a sharply-turning delivery, India-capped IPL regular and CZ captain Venkatesh Iyer (caught and bowled), and experienced Karn Sharma, who has played for India.
