Amona: Sachi XI produced a complete team display to win the All-Goa Panchayat and Municipality T20 tournament organised by Saibaba Sports Club at Uzzate ground, Amona. In the final on Sunday, Sachi XI beat Nageshi Youth Bandoda by 4 wickets.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Champions Sachi XI bagged the whopping cash prize of Rs 1,00,000; while runners-up Nageshi Youth were presented Rs 50,000.
Earlier, Sachi XI won the toss and elected to field first. Their decision was proved correct by their hardworking bowlers spearheaded by Man-of-the Match Somesh Prabhudessai, who picked 3/32.
Facing a disciplined attack, Nageshi Youth negotiated the challenge with Shrinivas Phadte leading the charge with positive cricket. He cracked 8 boundaries and one sixer in his 50 off 29 balls. Contributions by Vishwajeet Gaonkar (21), Kedar Naik (21) and Sachin Kurpaskar (17) helped Nageshi Youth to post a fighting total of 138 in 19.4 overs.
Along with Somesh; Gopal Gawas (2/24), Avishkar Mone (2/32) and Deepraj Gauns (1/29) played their part in helping Sachi XI restrict Nageshi Youth Bandoda under 140.
Sachi XI reached the victory target in 15.2 overs, losing six wickets. Notable contributions by Sahil Gauns (46 off 30 balls), and a blazing 8-ball 30 by Samarth Gauns, were the highlight of their run-chase. Sahil struck 5 boundaries and one sixer, while Samarth launched 3 sixes and hit 2 boundaries. Rohit Ghadi (29) and Vaikunth Gauns (20) played their part in what was a clinical display by Sachi XI with a total team performance in the match that mattered the most!
Nageshi Youth’s Sachin Kurpaskar was the wrecker-in-chief with a return of 4/34 in 3 overs.
