Sharp Shooters top Eagles Premier League 2023

Sanquelim: Sharp Shooters won the Eagles Premier League 2023, with a six-wicket victory over Morning Cricketers in the final at Municipal ground, Sanquelim.

Electing to bat, Morning Cricketers posted a challenging total of 159/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Yogan Satodkar scored a strokeful half-century to hand Morning Cricketers the impetus in the all-important final. Yogan’s knock of 69 runs in 51 balls, consisted 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. Narayan Gawas scored a quickfire 32 runs off 21 balls (4×4, 2×6) while Abhishek Kothambikar contributed 21 runs off 17 balls (2×4,1×6).

Revat Gawade (3/26), Pravin Rane (2/15) and Avinash Mainkar (2/19) were amongst the wickets for Sharp Shooters.

In the run-chase, Sharp Shooters cruised to 160/4 in 15.2 overs with Vithal Naik hammering the top-score of 76 runs off 33 balls. He was unstoppable with his agressive stroke-making ability that saw 11 boundaries and four sixes flow from his bat. Sagar Gawas scored 41 runs off 23 balls that included three boundaries and sixes each. Sham Mainkar contributed 18 runs off 17 balls, hitting four boundaries in the process.

Shivam Kanekar was the most successful bowler for Morning Cricketers with 3/32 being his return, while Krishnakant Majik picked 1/13.

Winners Sharp Shooters were presented cash prize of Rs 77,777 while runners-up Morning Cricketers received Rs 44,444; along with trophies.

Following individual prizes were awarded: Man of the final: Vithal Naik, Man of the tournament: Narayan Gawas, Best batsman: Narayan Gawas, Best bowler: Mahadev Mainkar, Best wicket-keeper: Sagar Gawas, Best fielder: Saiesh Gawde.

Goa Cricket Association president Vipul Phadke was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries.
