Goa suffered their third straight loss in Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in Vadodara on Saturday, this time losing to Tamil Nadu by 15 runs.
Electing to field first, Goa were set a target of 135 runs. However, they could manage 119/9 in the chase. Thus the team that had opened the tournament by winning their first three matches and then losing by just 3 runs to leaders Andhra, has now spiralled out of contention for the knockout phase qualification.
Put into bat, Tamil Nadu posted 134/4 with MD Thirushkamini being the key contributor with her unbeaten knock of 46 runs. Nethra L (27) and Arshi Choudhary (19) also chipped in with the bat. For Goa, Sunanda Yetrekar took three wickets while Priti Yadav picked up one wicket.
In reply, Goa were off to a good start with openers Shreya Parab (33) and Sanjula Naik (18) putting on 42 runs in 7 overs. Thereafter, Goa lost wickets cheaply except for Purvaja Verlekar (19) and Priti (18) putting in some effort with the bat; however, the team failed to keep up with the required run rate. Goa will play their last match against Gujarat on Monday.
