Goa suffered a narrow loss by 3 runs against Andhra in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in Vadodara on Tuesday. It was also the first defeat for Goa after three wins in a row, in the competition.
Andhra, who moved to the top of the table with today’s victory pushing Goa to second position, posted 128/9 after electing to bat first.
Goa were all out for 125 in 20 overs with just two players getting into double figures. Priti Yadav batted valiantly for her 49 runs off 34 balls, which included eight boundaries.
Captain Sanjula Naik contributed 23 runs off 17 balls, hitting five of those to the fence. The rest of the team, failed to do a notable job with the bat.
Earlier, Sunanda Yetrekar (3/23) and Shreya Parab (2/18) were the key wicket-takers as they played a big role in restricting Andhra to a chaseable total. Priti and Tarannum Pathan picked up a wicket each.
Goa will take on Odisha on 24th October.
