Arlem: MLT Cricket Club defeated SinQ Rangers by 5 wickets with 14 balls to spare, while in the second match – Vimson Panjim Powerplay outclassed DNS / VMJ’s Rookies by 6 wickets with 5.3 overs to spare; on the second day of 7th Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25 at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Put into bat, SinQ Rangers lost 2 early wickets in 5 overs, that of Neelay Naik Dalal (11) and Ashwin Kuncolienkar (2) with the score reading 23. However, Parashar Pai Khot, returning from a long hiatus, just showed what he is capable of, hitting 35 (26 balls, 2 x 4s, 1 x 6s) and in the company of Smit Dalvi 21 (20 balls, 1 x 4s) put on a 47-run partnership in 32 balls, steadying the innings as the Rangers reached 70 at the 10-over drinks break.
Sachin Kenkre (11) and Samprabh Phaldesai (15) tried their best, but SinQ Rangers kept losing their wickets in the bid to up the ante, as they slid to 124-6 in the 19th over. A late charge by Sanat Mhapne 36 not out (24 balls, 1 x 4s, 2 x 6s) and Kaushik Pai Fondekar 6 not out (1 x 4s) inflated the total by 24 runs as Sanat hit 2 huge sixes – an effortless switch hit being the shot of the day in the final over bowled by Parai Dubhashi – as they took the Rangers to 148-6 in 20 overs. Anish Pai Kakode picked 1-13 while Siddhesh Bodke, Shashank Kenkre, Sachin Sardesai & Manish Pai Kakode also chipped in with a wicket apiece.
In reply, MLT Cricket Club got off to a good start through Atchut Naik Dalal 33 (30 balls, 4 x 4s) and Siddesh Sinai Amonkar 18 (14 balls, 2 x 4s, 1 x 6s). Even though they lost Sachin Sardesai (10) to be 74-4 in 11 overs, MLT never really looked in trouble. A 61-run partnership between Manish Pai Kakode 40 (17 balls, 4 x 4s, 2 x 6s) and Saeesh Prabhudesai 21 (16 balls, 2 x 4s, 1 x 6s) sealed the match for the MLT with Anish Pai Kakode remaining not out on 10, taking the team home to reach 149/5 in 17.4 overs. Neelay Naik Dalal with dream figures of 3-19 was a standout performance while Kaushik Pai Fondekar and Sahil Adwalpalkar picked a wicket apiece. Scorecard👇

Match 2: Vimson Panjim Powerplay vs DNS / VMJ’s Rookies
Electing to bat first, DNS / VMJ’s Rookies were rocked by the young 14-year old Pratham Prabhugaonkar as he dismissed Sukrut Pai (4) and Balkrishna Hodarkar (0) in the very first over. Eashan Kamat, being promoted up the order, grabbed the opportunity with both hands, displaying his class, making 35 (33 balls, 4 x 4s) and in the company of Shivam Varik (11) tried to steady the innings. However with 9 of the Rookies batters not able to reach double figures, the innings ended at 96/8 in their allotted 20 overs, with sundries being the 2nd highest contributor at 12.
Siddhant Kunde’s raw pace was the highlight as he returned with dream figures of 2-5, while Anurag Borker 2-16, Pratham Prabhugaonkar 2-22, Vrushabh Kuncolienkar 1-3 and Pranav Kamat 1-12 shared the bowling honours.
In reply, Prasad Bhende 19 (21 balls, 1 x 4s) and Shiraj Pai Khot 15 (22 balls, 2 x 4s) gave a perfect start to Vimson Panjim Powerplay as they put on 36 in 7 overs. Though both the openers and also Sanket Prabhudesai ( 7 ) were run out to terrible mix ups and the captain Arsh Sardesai failing to open his account, the low target did not create any flutter in the Powerplay camp. Vardhan Prabhu Misquin 30 not out (23 balls, 3 x 4s, 1 x 6s) and Pranav Kamat 19 not out (9 balls, 4 x 4s) took the team home as they reached 100-4 in 14.3 overs, without any further damage. Ved Mahambrey with 1-19 was the lone successful bowler for the Rookies. Scorecard 👇
