Amona: Khutkar Brothers crushed MWA Mencure by 9 wickets and with 7.5 overs to spare, in their opening match of Saibaba SC 16th All-Goa Panchayat & Municipality T20 Tournament at Uzzate ground here today.
Put into bat, MWA Mencure were bowled out for 132 runs in 18 overs. Rajesh Naik (28 off 23 balls; 4×4 ), Sankalp Gawas (22 off 18 balls; 1×6, 2×4) and Viraj Gaonkar (20 off 10 balls; 1×6, 2×4) were the main run-getters for MWA.
For Khutkar Brothers, Kuldip Khutkar was the wrecker-in-chief with a brilliant return of 4/17 off his four overs. Shubham Gajinkar picked 2/33.
The story of the run-chase revolved around the superb unbeaten half-century by Ankush Khutkar (64) as Khutkar Brothers cruised to 133/1 in 12.1 overs. The experienced opener blazed eight boundaries and three sixes in his 34-ball knock. Shubham Gajinkar remained not out on 33 off 18 balls, which included, four boundaries and a sixer. Rohit Khutkar was the only wicket to fall after making 32 runs off 28 balls (1×6, 4×4), with MWA’s Sudin Naik being the wicket-taker.
Ankush Khutkar was adjudged Man of the Match and was presented with the award by Santosh Malik.
Earlier, Sulakshana Sawant graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest.
