Colvale: RCC Panaji beat Shree Ram Vidya Mandir by seven wickets and won the All-Goa under -14 invitational leather ball cricket tournament organised by Sakura Cricket Club at Colvale.
Shree Ram Vidya Mandir won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bowled out for 87 runs in 23.5 overs. Amit Gawas scored 16 runs. Manohar Desai and Rehan Parsekar scored 13 runs each.
RCC Panaji bowler Pranjal Singh took 3 wickets. Shaurya Chodankar, Darsh Salgaonkar and Aryan Bhonsle took 2 wickets each. In reply, RCC Panaji chased down the target in 13.2 overs, losing three wickets. Paras Naik top-scored with a contribution of 41 runs. Shaurya Chodankar scored 16 not out. Shree Ram Vidya Mandir’s Ranjan Lamgaonkar and Manohar Desai took 1 wicket each.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Best batsman – Pranjal Singh (RCC Panaji); Best bowler – Amit Gawas (Shree Ram Vidya Mandir); Best wicket-keeper – Yuvraj Dabolkar (RCC Vasco); Best Fielder – Manohar Desai (Shree Ram Vidya Mandir); Player of the tournament: Paras Naik (RCC Panaji); Player of the final: Shaurya Chodankar (RCC Panaji).
Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai; Vipul Phadke, president of Goa Cricket Association; Nitin Vernekar, Former Ranji cricketer and cricket coach, gave away the prizes.
