Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Lalit Yadav & Abhinav Tejrana create history as Goa take charge against Chandigarh

PORVORIM: Lalit Yadav and Abhinav Tejrana each scored double century on debut for Goa to power the hosts to a commanding position against Chandigarh on the second day of Ranji Trophy Elite Group B at GCA Academy ground here on Thursday.

In a historic occasion of two debutants for Goa scoring double-hundreds in the same match, Lalit was the top-scorer with 213 runs while Abhinav contributed 205 runs. The duo put on 309 runs for the 4th wicket, to form the spine of Goa’s huge total of 566 runs.

While this was Abhinav’s Ranji Trophy bow, Lalit switched to Goa this season after having played First Class cricket for Delhi in the past. His previous highest score was 177, which has now been bettered with a double century but in Goa colours.

Chandigarh off-spinner Vishu was the most successful bowler with figures of 7/173, while left-arm spinner Nishunk Birla returned 3/137.

In reply, Chandigarh were 34/1 at stumps on Day 2. Arjun Tendulkar took the wicket of Shivam Bhambri (2) before fellow opener Arjun Azad (21 not out) and captain Manan Vohra (11 not out) ensured no further fall of wicket.
