Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Goa bowlers stifle Madhya Pradesh on Day 2

Porvorim: Goa lead Madhya Pradesh by 103 runs at the end of the second day’s play in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match at GCA Academy ground here on Sunday.

Goa pacers Koushik V (3/33) and Arjun Tendulkar (2/34) made early inroads before offspinner Lalit Yadav (2/22) broke the crucial 6th-wicket partnership of 54 runs by sending back Rishabh Chouhan (43) and scalped Saransh Jain (48) when the 7th wicket partnership with Aryan Pandey (21 not out) had reached 43.

By stumps on Day 2, Madhya Pradesh were 181/7 in 73 overs, still trailing the hosts by 103 runs. Earlier, overnight not out batter Deepraj Gaonkar (51) added 21 runs to his tally before he was trapped LBW by Kumar Kartikeya Singh (3/88) for an important half-century and the Group B leaders were bowled out for 284 runs in 95.5 overs.

Goa will hope to wrap up the remaining three MP wickets quickly on Monday morning and get to their first target of first innings lead, before building on the prospect of an outright victory to hold their top position in Elite Group B. Scorecard👇
