Snehal Kauthankar’s double century was the highlight of the day as Goa took total control against Mizoram on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Snehal, who was 135 not out overnight, added exactly 115 runs to his knock today as he brought up his highest First Class score of 250 runs in 342 balls, which included 25 boundaries. His overnight partner Deepraj Gaonkar was out on 55 runs, being the first wicket to fall on the day as the fourth-wicket partnership ended on 133 runs.
Snehal was involved in three more half-century partnerships – 53 for fifth wicket with skipper Darshan Misal (25), 50 with Samar Dubhashi (17) for 6th and 76 for the 7th wicket with Rahul Mehta (48). Goa declared their first innings at 555/9.
Mizoram struggled in their first innings, losing 6 wickets for 122 runs by the end of the day. The 6th-wicket stand between Jehu Anderson (45 not out) and Vikash K (19), was worth 50 runs and provided a semblance of resistance from the Northeastern outfit to the rampaging Goan bowlers spearheaded by captain Darshan Misal (3/33) and Mohit Redkar (2/43). Arjun Tendulkar also picked up a wicket.
