Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Goa in control against Nagaland after taking first innings lead

Panaji: Goa are leading Nagaland by 209 runs at the end of second day’s play in their Ranji Trophy Plate Group match at Panjim Gymkhana ground here on Sunday.

After taking first innings lead of 32 runs, Goa ended the day on 177/5 with Snehal Kauthankar unbeaten on 56. Giving him company at the crease is captain Darshan Misal (4 not out). Opener Rohan Kadam scored 59 runs while Manthan Khutkar contributed 20 runs. Deepraj Gaonkar was out on 13.

Goa found themselves in trouble at 49/3 when Snehal joined Rohan and the duo put on a crucial partnership of 106 runs for the 4th wicket. Nagaland’s left arm spinner Suchith J (4/42) broke the flourishing partnership, and has proved to be the thorn in the flesh with ball and the bat so far in this match.

Earlier, Nagaland were bowled out for a total of 147 runs after the visitors resumed the action at overnight score of 74/6. Suchith J remained not out on 35, as he ran out of partners. Captain, R. Jonathan (25) was the first batter to be dismissed. Nagaho (23) seemed to be settling down and proving to be an able partner for Suchith at the other end before the allrounder was out LBW to Darshan (2/46) and their 8th wicket partnership ended on 33.
