Rajdeep Builders Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25: Priority Titans overcome stiff resistance of Commonwealth Fountainheads in semis, to meet Desserts N’More Avengers in final

ARLEM: Priority Titans got the better of Commonwealth Fountainheads by 22 runs and booked title clash against Desserts N’More Avengers in Rajdeep Builders Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25.

Electing to bat first on a batting beauty, Priority Titans were rocked by a fiery opening spell from Ameya Prabhudessai who skittled Sudin Kamat (6) and Granthik Buyao (2) and with Aditya Prabhugaonkar rattling the stumps of Sahish Mahambrey (19), it looked like the Titans were in a spot of bother at 35-3 in the 5th over.

A 54-run partnership in 32 balls between Deval Karmali 28 (19 balls, 2 x 4s, 1 x 6s) and Samar Dubhashi 38 (21 balls, 5 x 4s) took the Titans to 89-4 at the half way mark with the game evenly balanced. What followed next was total mayhem with the Titans batters treating the bowlers with absolute disdain plundering another 139 runs, 65 of them in the final 3 overs.

The attacking stroke play from the middle order batters Amith Kamat (15), Animesh Prabhugaonkar (35). Akshay Dalvi (20), Rauji Kakodkar (31 no) and Sunil Salgaonkar (22 no) took the sting out of the bowlers and tilted the momentum as Priority Titans posted 228-6 in 20 overs, the highest total of the entire tournament. Ameya Prabhudessai with 2-27 was the pick of the bowlers while Aditya Prabhugaonkar, Pratap Prabhugaonkar, Saish Hegde and Amod Borkar picked a wicket apiece.

In reply, the Commonwealth Fountainheads, despite losing Gaurish Shenvi Lotlikar (9) in a tragic mix-up, recovered through Amod Borkar (21), Aamod Talaulikar (37) and Aditya Prabhugaonkar (26) as they raced to 89-2 in the 10th over at the drinks break, the same as managed by the Titans during their innings.

Laxmikant Kurade (18), Amey Rajadhyax (29) and Yash Prabhugaonkar (26) set the cat amongst the pigeons with their attacking stroke play as the Fountainheads raced to 172-6 in the 16th over, needing 57 runs in 25 balls. Prabhakar Shetye (11) and Kedar Kamat (13 no) tried their best to take the score to 202-7 in 18 overs with the Fountainheads needing 27 in 12 balls. However a brilliant over by Rauji Kakodkar dashed all hopes as he polished off the tail picking the last 2 wickets giving away a mere 4 runs to terminate the Fountainheads innings at 206, giving the Titans a 22 run victory and a place in the finals.

The following individual prizes were awarded: Samar Dubhashi collected Drogaria Colvalcar Man-of-the Match, Aamod Talaulikar received Priority Constructions Best Batter and Rauji Kakodkar was awarded Wakao Best Bowler.
