Panaji: Panaji RCC and Peddem RCC tasted victory in their respective matches on the opening day of the Under-12 Cricket tournament organised by Port Town Boys at Sports Authority of Goa ground at Chicalim. A total of 7 teams from Goa and Karnataka are taking part.
In the first match, Panaji RCC won the Toss and elected to field against Vasco RCC, who posted a total of 108/6 in 25 overs. Yuvraj Dabholkar remained not out on 28 runs, while Anay Lakhani scored 13 runs.
Panaji RCC’s talented all-rounder, Shaurya Chodankar first made an impact with the ball as he returned impressive figures of 3/12 off his five overs. Shaurya sparkled with the bat as well with an unbeaten knock of 28 runs to guide Panaji RCC to 109/2 in 24 overs and eight-wicket victory to start the campaign in style. Vasco’s Parth bowled well and took 2/23 in his five overs.
Shaurya Chodanoar was named player of the match. Prajyot Chodankar, Treasurer of Sports Authority of Goa, presented the award.
In the other match, Peddem RCC defeated Hubali Cricket Academy by 2 wickets.
Hubali Cricket Academy won the toss and batted first. They posted a total of 105 in 25 overs. Sai Mukund Vernekar scored 30 runs, Sujaj Kamath made 16 runs and Radhesh Ougranti contributed 11 runs. Bhavesh (3/10) and Nihal (2/12) bowled well for Peddem RCC.
In their chase, Peddem RCC reached the victory target 106/8 with two wickets in hand. Saish Shirodkar (16 not out) ensured the successful finish for Peddem.
Among Hubali bowlers, Sai Mukund Vernekar (2/24) and Samrudha Habib (2/17) bowled well. Saish Shirodkar was named the player of match. Vincent Baburao, Secretary of Hubali Cricket Academy, presented the prize.
