Margao: La Paz Gardens Cricket Club prevailed over Bogda Cricket Club with a margin of 30 runs in Goa Cricket Association’s A Division South zone final.
Sahil Makwana’s century was the highlight of the match as the La Paz wicket-keeper held the innings together coming in at No 4 when his team were in a bit of trouble at 32/2 in 6.1 overs. Sahil stroked 12 boundaries and three sixes on the way to scoring 117 runs off 105 balls, before he departed as the seventh wicket to fall with La Paz placed handsomely at 241/7 in 38.5 overs.
Shubham Chaubey scored 52 runs while Achit Shigwan contributed 28 runs with La Paz posting a total of 263/7 in the allotted 40 overs. Advait Prahlad was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/40 to his name while captain Ajay Kewat took 2/38.
In reply, Bogda CC openers Rishikesh Ugale (31) and Vishwajeet Phadte Gaonkar (24) put on an opening partnership of 51 runs. However, loss of four wickets set Bogda CC on the back-foot.
Middle-order batters tried to up the ante with an aggressive approach as R Atchuth Kumar (48 off 40 balls) and Gandham Guru Pardhasaradhi (45 off 37 balls) put on a 5th-wicket partnership of 91 runs off 70 balls. After their fall, Advaith Prahlad scored 26 runs off 19 balls. Krishnan Unni remained unbeaten on 21 runs as Bogda CC were restricted to 233/9. Shubham Chaubey was the most successful bowler with 3/47 to his name while captain Srinivas Fadte took 2/41.
