Porvorim: Khorlim XI beat Challengers SC by 80 runs in a low-scoring final of GCA’s A Division North zone tournament at GCA academy ground, here on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Khorlim XI managed to post a modest total of 147 in 31 overs. Bhushan Talawadekar was the top-scorer with 60 runs off 63 balls (8×4) to his name. Manas Raikar chipped in with a valuable 26 runs; while Atul Yadav (20) and Shubham Jha (15) also contributed handy runs.
Challengers SC bowler Yash Manjrekar was the wrecker-in-chief, picking up a stunning haul of 6 wickets for just 18 runs off his seven overs. Amey Karmarkar, Arun Wagji and Ravi Barve took one wicket each.
In reply, Challengers Sports Club were skittled out for 67 runs in 25.1 overs. Jai Ahuja was the most successful bowler for Khorlim XI with a fifer to his name, giving away just 16 runs in 7.1 overs. Manas Raikar took two wickets while Hitesh Walunj and Bhushan Talawadekar claimed a wicket each.
It was a sorry batting card for Challengers Sports Club, who had just two batters get to double digits in the form of Soham Dhumal (17) and Ravi Barve (12).
