Vidya Prabodhini College, Porvorim, and D.M’s College, Mapusa, advanced to the second round of the Inter-College Women’s Cricket Tournament 2022-23 organised by Goa University.
Vidya Prabodhini College defeated V.M.Salgaocar College of Law by 4 wickets. D.M’s College got a walkover as Shree Mallikarjun College withdrew from the Championship.
Vidya Prabodhini College had to work hard to get the better of V.M Salgaocar College, who won the toss and elected to bat. Bhagyashree Chari scored 35 runs off 33 balls, while Simran Kanekar came up with a run a ball 22-run knock as the Miramar-based college posted a decent total of 132/6 in 20 overs.
Vidya Prabodhini College’s Deepali Sarkar (1/14) and Rupali Doifode (1/40) were amongst the wickets.
Vidya Prabodhini College chased down the target in 18.4 overs. Saloni Naik with 22(30) and Diya Sawant with 10 (17), were notable contributors. Law college bowlers Riddhi Shirodkar and Bhagyashree Chari took a wicket each.
